Eightfour can deliver your company's online strategy using a mix of open source Content Management solutions, Rich Application frameworks such as jQuery and Mootools, hosting and platform expertise and above all, work with your project no matter what level of expertise you have with the Web.

Eightfour specialises in Content Management System development for building websites from large to small. A Content Management System, or CMS, lets you as a company manage almost every aspect of your own website: content, menu structure, images, layouts etc.

We recommend the use of the Concrete5 CMS for "smaller" sites where the content is mainly put into a simple structure (e.g. most "mum-and-dad" business sites) and larger solutions such as ezPublish, Joomla!, Drupal, Typo3 or a custom built CMS tailored to specification for larger, more content driven sites.

    The Process

To understand the process that we employ in making a website, the following is a rough rundown of the key steps. Note that the series of steps can change depending on the customer - no project, or customer, is the same.

    1. Initial contact. Contact us and we will arrange a time to discuss your strategy and requirements for your website. We will note any requirements you may need and suggest the best fit option.
    2. Estimation. Once we have gathered your requirements we will propose a solution and an estimate of costs.
    3. Design. Once the estimate has been approved and you proceed with an order, we will create page designs and templates for you to approve. (If Design has already been taken care of this step can be skipped of course.) Typically in this stage there will be a degree of feedback around the designs to improve based on customer feedback or different design options for the customer to choose from.
    4. Template Conversion. Once design has been approved, the design then is converted to a template for the website in XHTML/CSS.
    5. Website/CMS development. The Website or CMS is set up, the template loaded into it and then the features/requirements are developed in the system. Testing of new functions is carried out as we develop.
    6. Testing/Signoff. The site will be placed at a temporary address for the customer to check over and test. Once this is complete the customer can sign off before continuing to the last step.
    7. Go Live. Either re-point the old website address at the new site (if this is a replacement site) or establish the new domain name and site.

    Costs

As each website and customer is different, we don't believe in "package deal" costs that a lot of web developers advertise.
